The end of the year came around so quickly! I spent a lot of time this year watching movies and TV series as always, which really fueled my creativity. Earlier this year, I wrote a blog post (in Japanese) with my thoughts on the shows I’d watched, but the recently released “Pluribus“ was just mind-blowingly good. It’s safe to say it has completely overturned all my standards for what makes a show great.

Anyway, let's get back to business. Here are the updates for December. This month’s changes are subtle, but they focus on improving overall comfort and usability. To update your theme, please refer to the help guide, “Update the Theme.”

Fixing the “Jump” in Quick Preview

I’ve fixed an issue where the layout would shift while images were loading in Quick Preview.

Have you ever been frustrated when you’re reading a website, and suddenly the text jumps down because an image just finished loading above it? That’s called a “Layout Shift,” and this update prevents it from happening.

It might be hard to visualize with words, so please take a look at the image below.

Because the space for the image is reserved in advance, the screen won’t jump around while loading. This prevents accidental taps (like clicking the wrong button because the page moved). Plus, it has the added benefit of potentially improving your SEO score with search engines like Google.

Optimizing the Bottom Screen on Android

I recently switched my main phone to a Pixel 10, and I noticed an unintended white space appearing at the bottom of the screen on Android devices. With this update, I've removed that unnecessary gap.

Other Updates

• Fixed stuck tooltips on mobile: Fixed an issue where the explanatory tooltip would remain visible after tapping the "Back to Top" button (the feature introduced in the last update).

Looking Ahead to 2026

It feels a bit early, but thank you so much for everything in 2025. Thanks to all of you using Lumina, it has been a truly fulfilling year for me as a developer.

This year, in addition to developing the theme itself, I started putting more effort into social media. Personally, I rarely post on my personal social media. Still, I managed to keep posting every week.

For next year, my resolution is to implement more improvements like this month’s—changes that improve usability without adding more settings. If I keep adding too many new features, Lumina will lose its simplicity. I want to polish the user experience without making it complicated. I already have a few ideas for improvements, so stay tuned!

I also plan to restart user interviews, which I haven’t done in a while, to create more opportunities to hear directly from you.
