Hi, this is Showkaku Sano. I recently upgraded my main machine to a new Mac. Really looking forward to getting more work done with it… though I’ll just pretend I never saw the bill🤫

Here are the March updates. This month brings a brand-new layout! To update your theme, check out the help guide: “Update the Theme.”

New Layout: ”Compact Profile”

New layout “Compact Profile“

I’ve added a new layout called “Compact Profile.” When enabled, the cover image is hidden and your profile section moves to the gallery sidebar, making the top page feel much more streamlined.

Let me share a bit of background on why I built this.

Simple layouts like Illustfolio 4 have always been popular, and I’ve also heard from users who said things like, “I mostly show my portfolio in person, so a big profile section isn’t really necessary for me.“

But just hiding the profile section wouldn’t cut it. Visitors still need to know who you are and what you do.

So how do you keep things clean and minimal while still getting your profile across? After thinking it through, I anded on the idea of extending the sidebar.

If you prefer a cleaner, more minimal look, or if you’ve been putting off writing your bio, this layout might be a better fit. To try it, just toggle on “Compact Profile“ in Tumblr’s theme settings. Give it a shot!

Other Updates

  • Fixed an issue where the script would break if Name field contained line breaks or single quotes ().

    • In other words, names like “Smith’s“ weren’t working before. Sorry about that!

For the full update history, please check the release notes.

I was working on a separate project this month, so I’m skipping the fun corner for now. That said, I think a lot of the research will come in handy for Lumina’s development too.

That’s all for this month’s newsletter. If you haven’t picked up the theme yet, you can get it here!

And I'm also on X and Instagram! Feel free to check them out.

Until next time!
