🌟 Illustfolio Lumina June Update: Add Extra Text to Your Name

Now your profile can feel more like a business card

Hi, this is Showkaku Sano.

Right now, I’m preparing for a small music event with friends on July 11. We’ve been doing this event for 8 years, and even as a shy person, I always feel comfortable there. It will also be streamed online—feel free to check it out if you’re interested!

Here are the updates for June. This one’s especially helpful if you use a unique handle or display name.

To update your theme, please refer to the help guide, “Update the Theme.”

I’m on X and Instagram!

I’ve also been steadily posting on social media:

  • On X, I share portfolio tips 2–3 times a week

  • On Instagram, I post weekly photos that capture everyday moments with Lumina

If you haven’t followed yet, now’s a great time to check them out:

Add a subtitle to your name

Introducing: Name Subtitle!

You can now add an optional subtitle to your name. Not sure what it’s for? Let me explain.

The most common use case is to add your name in alphabet letters next to your native name—like how it appears on a business card. This can be useful for international visitors or just as a design accent.

You can also use this field for other creative purposes—like adding a nickname, a secondary handle, or even a short tagline that describes you.

Please feel free to get creative with it!

You can also use this field to add a short phrase about yourself—like a tagline or artist statement.

Other Updates

  • Fixed an issue where the copyright symbol (©) did not display correctly when opening the HTML on some systems.

A Note About the Name "Illustfolio Lumina"

Since this update is about names, I’d like to share a little behind-the-scenes story about the name Illustfolio Lumina itself.

At first, during development, I simply called it Illustfolio 5. But as it neared completion, I knew it needed a proper name.

The top three name ideas were:

  • Illustfolio Pro

  • Illustfolio Neo

  • Illustfolio Lumina

I chose the one that felt closest to the world I wanted to create. (And honestly… I’m glad I didn’t go with “Illustfolio Pro”—it didn’t feel very cute.)

I also avoided using “5” because I wanted Lumina to stand apart from the free templates I had made before.

At first, I thought “Lumina” might sound a bit too fancy or awkward to say out loud.

When I mentioned it in interviews, I felt a little shy saying the name. But after saying it many times, I got used to it—and now I really like it.

That’s it for this month’s newsletter! If you haven’t purchased the theme yet, you can get it here!

See you next time!
