šŸŒŸIllustfolio Lumina February Update: Dark Mode is Here

Will You Join the Dark Side?

Hi, this is Showkaku Sano. I finally did a deep clean since I skipped my big year-end cleaning. I realized I donā€™t have nearly enough storage solutions, so Iā€™m planning to buy some more. Thinking about these things is the most fun part, isnā€™t it?

Now, letā€™s get into the February update! This monthā€™s highlight is Dark Mode! To update your theme, please refer to the help guide, ā€œUpdate the Theme.ā€

Introducing Dark Mode šŸŒƒ

Thank you for waiting!

Illustfolio Lumina now has Dark Mode! If youā€™ve ever thought, ā€œA black background suits my art style better than white,ā€ this update is for you.

To enable it, go to Options ā†’ [Appearance] and switch from Light Mode to Dark Mode.

Dark Mode gives your portfolio a modern and sophisticated look. It also reduces eye strain compared to a white background. Whether you stick with Light Mode or switch to Dark Mode, choose the one that best matches your artwork!

Now, here are some key points to make the most of Dark Mode.

Point 1: Customize with Header Background Colors

Dark Mode (Appearance) and Header Background Color (Background Color) are separate settings.

Since Dark Mode is independent of the header background color, you can customize the design by combining them. Here are some examples:

  • Dark Mode + Darker Header ā†’ Creates a unified, cohesive look.

  • Dark Mode + Brighter Header ā†’ Use the [Invert Header Text Color] option to make this work!

Point 2: Only You Can Choose Dark or Light Mode

As the blog owner, you decide whether to enable Dark Mode. Viewers cannot switch modes.

For example, on Kindle or YouTube, users can freely toggle between Light Mode and Dark Mode. However, a portfolio site is about presenting your work in a way that aligns with your vision. Thatā€™s why, in Illustfolio Lumina, Dark Mode is a setting only the owner can choose.

Other Updates

  • Fixed an issue where [Invert Header Text Color] did not apply to the header navigation.

  • Renamed the [Cover Size] option to [Cover Style] for clarity (no change in functionality).

  • Adjusted the appearance of the Like and Reblog buttons below posts.

Coming Next

Recently, Iā€™ve received some feedback about Illustfolio Lumina. One of the common requests was for a blog feature, and Iā€™m currently exploring the possibility of implementing it.

Iā€™ve been blogging for over 15 years myself, so Iā€™m really happy to hear this kind of request. However, since not all users need a blog, Iā€™m considering offering it as an add-on or DLC rather than a core feature of Illustfolio Lumina.

Thereā€™s no finalized plan or timeline yet, so if you have any specific requests for a blog feature, feel free to share your feedback!

Thatā€™s it for this monthā€™s newsletter! If you havenā€™t purchased the theme yet, you can get it here!

See you next time!
