Coming Up

I’m working on an experimental feature that has been requested for a while—a carousel (slideshow)!

I’m thinking of enabling you to add up to three images to create a slideshow for the cover image.

Why I Created Illustfolio Lumina

Just sharing updates might not be enough, so I’d like to add a bit of storytelling to this newsletter. For the first issue, I’ll talk about why I created Illustfolio Lumina.

The development was inspired by user interviews.

So far, Illustfolio has gone through four versions. While I knew many people were using Illustfolio, I didn’t really understand the exact reasons or motivations behind it. So, over the course of six months, I conducted numerous interviews with various illustrators.

These interviews revealed so much. I learned what people expect from using Illustfolio, when they need a portfolio, why the media tab on Twitter can’t replace a portfolio, and more. The list of insights is endless. It was my first time conducting interviews on this scale, but it was well worth it.

While many users appreciated the simplicity of Illustfolio, the interviews also highlighted some challenges. One recurring feedback was, “I want a site that is easy to understand not just for me, but also for my clients.” It became clear that previous versions of Illustfolio didn’t fully meet this need.

To address this, a new version of Illustfolio that could cater to professional use was essential. That’s how the development started.

In other words, without the valuable insights from the illustrators, none of this would have been possible. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who contributed.

That’s all for now. If you have any questions, comments, or product feedback, feel free to reach out anytime. You can reply directly to this email or contact me via the details in the help section.

If you haven’t purchased the theme yet, you can do so here!

See you next time!
